USGA Run Off Elections Tommorow 3/2 and Wed. 3/3
Just when you thought that the USGA “Vote for me” harassment was over, it’s back! (I kid, I kid). But for real. Three is a run off election for USGA Vice President, the two people running are VJ Jadhav and Miranda Baylor. The results from the election had Miranda with 42.6% of the votes and VJ with 33.6% of the votes. Neither of them got the simple majority (hence the run-off!) and I feel like 42.6% compared to 33.6% means that this run off is going to be a close one! I still think it’s any one’s game right now, we’ll see. The best way to vote is through this link: USGA Voting (http://www.uab.edu/usga). Simply sign in with the good ol’ Blazer ID and click on one of their names.
If you don’t vote through that link, you can vote at the polling locations (which is usually maned by an unenthusiastic UAB student, just calling it how it see it yo?) at the HUC, BEC, in Blazer Hall, Blount Hall, Heritage Hall, the Commons, and the LRC! No excuses for not voting!
So maybe you know nothing about these people right? Well I have taken the liberty to copy and paste their “Description” section from their Facebooks groups here, and also I found their USGA videos:
From “Miranda Baylor for USGA Vice President”
Miranda Baylor has served as an outstanding Business Senator on the USGA for the last year. She has been involved in the Programs Committee, as well as being the vice chair for the Committee. She is also currently involved in UAB Trailblazers, Vice President of Public Relations for Sigma Alpha Lambda, and she was a UAB Cheerleader the past year and a half.
Miranda is more than qualified to serve UAB as its next Vice President of the USGA. She has abundantly proven her leadership skills, and her desire and concern to help people are evident as well. Miranda would make a GREAT Vice President if given the chance, so don’t forget to vote on February 24-25, 2009.
From “Veerendra Jadhav for USGA Vice President”
Hi, I am currently a junior biology major who has served as a Natural Science and Mathematics senator for the past two years. I am one of the senior most senators in the USGA. I am very familiar with parliamentary procedure and the way the USGA Senate works and should work. I have been able to learn from two great vice presidents about how to run the Senate and have picked up from both their styles.
I have served on many committees including the Programs, Finance, and Fall Break committees. I have been a Orientation Leader and am selected for the upcoming year as Ambassador. I have a proven track record of showing leadership, hard work, and teamwork. And I will do my very best to ensure UAB gets the very best out of me. And I believe that I am the most qualified person to be USGA Vice President.
Some of the things that I have accomplished as a USGA Senator: Introduction of NSM Student Council, on the committee to bringing a Fall Break to the students, getting more students to be involved in the USGA, and being a member of the UAB Cultural Activities Committee.
There ya go! Make up your mind! Lol
Thanks for reminding to do this Melissa!
P.S. I know I forgot to do “The Internet, I Love Thee #4” last week and Jessica knows she forgot her weekly concert line up, so we will make this week’s write ups extra good.
