UAB, Let’s Fill The Container
We’re all very aware of the catastrophes that the country of Haiti has had to endure over the past 6th months. No need for me to go into the earthquake lecture. However, as I am sure you have noticed, various other things such as hard to pronounce volcanos and Tiger Woods’ return to golf have overshadowed the Haiti tragedy. Well, I’m here to bring you back down to earth. The UAB Student Alumni Society has taken up the charge to “Fill The Container” with left over school supplies to help the rebuilding and restructuring efforts in Haiti. The country was already in need of these things before the quake, and they are even more so in need now.
The idea is to fill a whole shipping container with school supplies to be sent to Haiti. It’s a daunting task, but with your help we can pull it off. You know you have TONS of left-over paper, pens/pencils, notebooks, and even backpacks. All you’ve got to do is gather up your leftover supplies and deposit them into a donation bin. The bins are currently scattered all over campus in various high traffic areas such as HUC 136, classroom buildings, and all Resident Halls. The drive to collect these things ends on May 7th, so donate NOW!
