Alright Blazer fans BIG BIG news coming out of the Athletic Department this week.

UAB will be doing something different this year for the Memphis game this year. We will be having a Gold Out of the entire Arena.  Sources from the athletic department say that UAB will have FREE Gold UAB shirts sitting in seats when people come into Bartow for the game!

You may ask why they are letting me, a lowly student announce such a big event.  It is because the athletic department knows everything starts with us, the students. So it is up to us to hype up the game, sell out the student section and get the word out about one of the biggest events in UAB’s short history!

The “Gold Rush” (as it is officially being referred too) is meant to bring added hype to the already nearly sold-out UAB vs. Memphis game Thursday February 26th.  The game will be broadcast on ESPN and UAB is doing its part to make Bartow Arena look good for national television.

So what can YOU as a UAB student fan do to help make this game a complete success?
1. Come to the UAB vs. Southern Miss. game Saturday February 21st @ 1pm.  This is our last home game before Memphis. Don’t be that guy who only comes to one game a year; no one likes that guy. Plus this game is HUGE and can set the tone for the big game on Thursday.

2. Come to the campout the night before the game Wednesday, February 25th(for complete details visit the Facebook event page Facebook Event Page There will be all types of free stuff, activities, highlight videos and more!
Tell your friends. This is THE biggest game of the year do NOT miss out on seating because you didn’t camp-out. Camping-out=guaranteed seating. It’s that simple

3. Paint up, make signs and be LOUD! Want to get on ESPN? Then make yourself stand out by painting up, making awesome signs and just being generally loud during the game! The atmosphere for last years game was IN-CREDIBLE! Let’s make sure we repeat it.

4. WEAR THE T-SHIRTS!!! Do NOT put it in your purse or backpack or say its too big or it’s not your Greek colors or anything like that. PUT the t-shirt on and support your University! Imagine Gold-clad UAB fans singing Alma Mater at the end of the game as UAB downs the #8 team in the nation on national television. Beautiful, I know.

5. Tell your friends and your family to get tickets NOW!
