UAB Grounds Golden Eagles; Win Big 30-17
Finally.
It’s been a long time coming.
The Blazers have finally beaten the Southern Miss Golden Eagles.
So it only took 9 tries, who’s counting?
Seriously though, the Blazers put together their most complete game this season to down their long time rival. The Blazers ran well, threw pretty nicely and played some shutdown defense to cement their victory over the golden chickens of Mississippi.
On the ground the Blazers accumulated an astounding 222 yards. It’s astounding because the Golden Eagles “were” ranked 6th in the nation in run defense averaging a stunning 64 yards per game. The Blazers topped that average in the first quarter. The Blazers were led on the ground once again by Senior Quarterback Joe Webb who gathered 145 yards on 24 attempts.
Although the running game was solid in the contest the passing game will need improvement before the next game. The Blazers were blown out of the water through the air by So. Miss who threw for 234 yards while the Blazers gained only 23 yards of their own. 21 of those 23 yards were gained on a Joe Webb bomb.
At the end of the day the defense gave up a combined 345 yards of total offense to Southern Miss. However, UAB was able to come up with some big plays to help swing the game in the Blazers favor. The D came up with 3 big turnovers highlighted by a 40 yard interception (by Hiram Atwater) return for a touchdown to put the final nail in Southern Miss’s coffin.
How big was this win? President Garrison herself walked into the locker room to congratulate the Blazers on a big win.
“She was just happy and proud of our guys for competing and fighting through adversity, and we were glad to see her in there,” UAB coach Neil Callaway said.

You know you’ve done something great when the President of the University takes notice.
Hats off to our Blazers for ending the 3 game losing streak and getting the King Kong off our back! If you don’t think this win meant something to our team check out the video below to see the team singing the fight song and highfiving fans!
The Blazers finally played like we all knew they could. While things looked good Thursday night they weren’t great. The Blazers are gonna have to step it up with their passing game; defensively and offensively.
The Blazers will have plenty of time for improvement as they are off this upcoming Saturday and get to rest up for their next contest, Ole Miss.
UAB will have to be on their A game for this contest. If the Blazers are waiting for a time to play their perfect game of the season the next game would be a great time to do so.
Until then Go Blazers!

Say what you want CJ, but compared to 95% of K-scope’s writing I’d look like Woodward and Bernstein.
I don’t know how the kscope got dragged into this but that’s not saying too much…lol
Give me 1 month with the Kscope and I’d have em flyin off the stands
