Review of the Fall Student Forum
This is a guest post by Bridgette Stewart who is the UAB Student Advocate for the USGA.
I hope everyone midterms are going well. We just had the student forum on September 25th. We had a good turnout considering it was on a Friday. The huge topic on everyone’s minds was parking. Director of Parking, Kim Fort, was there to explain what her offices in doing to alleviate the parking problems on campus. One of the solutions is to expand the UBOB parking deck. This will help accommodate parking for commuter students.
Also, we had a lot to questions for athletics. Including what are they going to do to improve our football team. Keep in mind that this was before our HUGE WIN over Southern Miss. Another topic for athletics was why our student tailgating space has been decrease in size. President Garrison would like for the size of the student tailgate to increase and include even more student groups.
Other topics that were discussed were the cost of textbooks, library expansion, and the possibility of Greek housing. I will be following up on these topics that were discussed at the forum. If you have any question or topics that you feel need to be addressed by the administration, just send me an email at USGAadvocate@uab.edu.
