Meeting Your Music Favorites

Meeting Your Music Favorites

Last weekend, I attended Kaskade’s show in Atlanta.  It was simply amazing, and he definitely played a set that blew my mind!

One great thing I noticed about Kaskade was the whole show,  he seemed really personable and friendly. He played a longer set than I ever expected (longer than most DJs of his caliber do at a show in Atlanta) and even stayed after the show in the heat to talk to some of the fans who had stayed. He came down, and instead of just snapping a few pictures he actually chatted with us about his tour, Ultra Music Festival (he got bumped because the sets ran long…lame), and how he liked ATL.

(He threw that glow necklace into the crowd and I caught it! It was great!)

I always love it when musicians aren’t afraid to talk with and meet their fans. I’ve met some cool people – the bass player from Weezer, Of Montreal, the guys from Velvet Revolver (yes including Scott Weiland and yes he was strung out), the guys from Dr. Dog, and more. I’m totally nerdy, and get really excited when this happens!

So, what are your cool meeting-a-favorite-artist stories?

well, i will gladly say i was part of that encounter… it’s just very rare for an artist to come towards you and actually go “hey what’s up man!” and start initiating conversation… maybe because i was bouncing off the wall right under the DJ booth the entire show lol

Junkie XL was a close match in friendliness with Kaskade. Van Buuren, Oakefold, the guys from Infected Mushroom and a few others were just like “yeah ok let’s take those damn pics and get the hell outa’ here, I gotta rest for my next show”

I don’t blame them though, the amount of crazy fans and shows they run into day in and day out is it just ridiculous

I met the drummer from Mutemath, Darren King, after a show and he was pretty cool and laid back.
