Let’s face it, parking on campus is no easy task. Sooner or later we’ve all fell victim to parking somewhere we don’t belong and ended up with a ticket that ruins our day. Luckily, USGA …

It’s Been Awhile, Let’s Catch Up. – Crawfish Boil, Free Chicken, UPC, and Graduation!

Whew, I have just been out of it. Finals kicked my ass and I had to take a break from everything, hence the 3 or 4 days of no updates. However, I’m back! Over the last week we have had a lot of stuff happen, mainly the end of the semester and graduation, so let’s start with that.

As I am sure you know, UAB held two graduation sessions Saturday at Bartow Arena. The cool thing is that this was the LARGEST graduating class to date for UAB at 2,235 graduating students. Badass. 2009 is actually my graduating date, but as you can see I am on the 5 year program. That’s cool with me because we all know “Leaving college in 4 years is like leaving a party at 10pm”. Lol. In all seriousness, congrats to all the graduating students! Photos from the UAB Graduation 2009. – AL.com

Let’s see..what else happened…Oh ya! Free Chicken at KFC! Man, how awesome was this?! KFC offered free 2pc chicken meal voutures in order to stimulate buzz about their new grilled chicken option. Well, mission accomplished! However I don’t think that they realized how out of control this promotion was going to get. What did KFC in was Oprah mentioning that they were doing the promotion and people went absolutely nuts. I actually heard about it and me and the GF printed off two vouchers and headed down to the nearest KFC. We had no idea what awaited us. As we got close to KFC the TRAFFIC got worse. Soon we realized that traffic was back up almost a quarter mile trying to get through the drive through! We couldn’t believe our eyes! Despite the long line of traffic, we parked a ways down the road and walked to KFC to see if we could get in. Just as there was a huge line of cars, there was a huge line of people too! We got there at 8 and barely made it in the doors by 9 to then be served around 9:30pm. All of that waiting for a crappy 2pc chicken meal! It was well worth the experience though. Good times. Hmm let’s see, what else….Oh yes, the Schaeffer Eye Center Crafwish Boil kicked ass as usual! If you missed it this year then you are a fool. It was the best craw fish boil I have been to since I started going to them 4 years ago. I wasn’t a huge fan of all the artists, but after seeing some of them (Katy Perry, gasp!) I actually started to like them. The genre’s this year were wide spread and well met by the crowds, everyone from Shinedown and Katy Perry, to The All-American Rejects and 311 totally kicked ass this year. It was definitely the most fun I have had at a music festival in a long time. I took tons of pictures and I want to talk a little more about the boil, so I think I may do a “review” post of the whole event tomorrow. We’ll see.

University Programs Council – Over the weekend, the UPC had their Summer retreat which official means that the new chairs have taken their positions. I am the new Blaze Productions chair and of course I was on the retreat as well. Let me be the first to say that we have an amazing group this year with tons of driven individuals who are going to work extremely hard to provide UAB with the best in entertainment. It’s going to be a damn good time. Next week the new USGA Exec Cab. is going on a retreat also, that should be exciting.

Well, that’s all I have for now. I’ll get back to daily updates and keep you updated. Don’t forget! the 12 and 9 week terms start tomorrow May 11! What a bummer!
