I’ve been putting off doing writing this post for awhile, but the end of the semester nears and I will lose valuable eyes if I procrastinate any longer! iloveuab.com needs some fresh blood to keep things interesting. The facts are that CJ and myself are both seniors and we are really strapped for time. Jason Meier is in the same boat, his office which encompasses UPC, USGA and a bunch of other stuff just pulled off one of the most badass semesters ever. Because of this the three of us have less and less time everyday to devote to this website. Also, Jessica Seales who did some writing for us a while back is also consumed in a job, plus she graduated already. And lastly, Monique Jones runs her own blog full time and is busy with it. So, with that being said, we need someone.

What does it take to write for iloveuab.com? Well, I’ll tell you:

• You must love UAB, love talking about UAB, and be fairly knowledgeable about the University (Or at least know how to use Google).
• You need to be able to write in an interesting way. You don’t have to be an awesome writer, but you at least need a style of your own.
• You need to be a self starter. I need someone who can see when something is post worthy, and then get it into words as fast as possible. (A great example is CJ’s Rooster in the MiniPark Post).
• You need some free time. You’d be surprise how long it can take to write a good post sometimes. I need someone who is willing to devote a few hours each week to write.
• It would be great if you are a girl, though not necessary. The main writers here Myself, CJ, and Jason are all dudes. Sometimes I feel like we need a chicks perspective.
• Having Wordpress experience is a HUGE plus. This also is not necessary. This blog runs on Wordpress, if you know it, great, if you don’t, I’ll teach you.

Maybe you feel like you fit the above description, awesome. So what can I offer you in return? If you’re thinking you are going to get paid, I really hate to disappoint you. There is no monetary compensation for writing for this site, in fact iloveuab.com won’t even add a line to your resume (At least not yet!).

There’s only one thing that I can guarantee you as a writer for this site: readers. Writing for iloveuab.com insures that anywhere between 5,000 to 10,000 people will be read what you write. Not only will they read, but they also are pretty good about interacting. You know really quick whether or not you have just written an amazing post by the number of comments you start to receive. Having the stuff that you write read and cared about is a pretty good feeling, it’s hard to explain. You should try it!
