Homecoming: Gurney Derby, Cookout, Green and Gold Games, Stompdown
More than 40 events are planned for students, alumni, and the community. One of the events is UAB’s traditional Gurney Derby. The Gurney Derby involves teams of four students who compete while racing a gurney down 13th Street South. The Gurney Derby is presented and sponsored by the UAB National Alumni Society and will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 12:00 pm. After the Gurney Derby, there will be a cookout in the Mini Park that will include a FREE barbeque lunch. The Green and Gold Games will begin at 1:00 pm in the Mini Park. Cheer on participants of the games while you enjoy the barbeque.
A staple event of Homecoming week is Stompdown. Stompdown is UAB Homecoming’s annual stomp, dance, and skit/spirit competition. Stompdown will be held in the Campus Recreation Center on November 2 at 7:00 pm. Stompdown is always a favorite and brings a lot of variety and the groups always bring creativity to their performances. You will definitely want to get there early!
