Higher Ed Day!
Once again, UAB is getting ready to load up and head down to Montgomery this for this year’s Higher Ed Day. Why you may ask? To rally support for higher education!
Our state government often overlooks funding for colleges and universities so this is our chance to show our support and show support for our university! This year’s theme is “creating opportunities.” Even though UAB is the #1 employer in the state, without appropriate funding from the state, our school’s operations will be limited. The goal is to show the state government that we deeply care about our school and hopefully persuade them to vote in favor of colleges and universities in Alabama.
Last year, there were over 3,500 students, faculty, alumni, and supporters from campuses all over the state!
So do you feel passionate enough to take a stand? It’s all going down this Thursday, April 7 in Montgomery. Buses will depart at 9:30am from the HUC concourse and will return at 4:00pm. Be sure to wear all your UAB gear in support of our awesome school! There will be a free bbq lunch served at noon for all those who attend (just make sure you eat breakfast before you leave!) You will also be excused from most of your classes assuming that you do not have a lab or test on Thursday. UAB will give you an excuse to hand to your teacher.
So please come out and support UAB if you can! For more information, stop by HUC 440.
