Free Movie: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Free Movie: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

UAB’s Intercultural Committee one of the most epic foreign films ever! The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I personally haven’t seen the film but I’m definitely not going to miss the showing Wednesday Night.

I tried to do a little bit of research on this film but had a hard time coming up with a real solid genre/style for this Swedish film. It’s like a mixture of high-action, mystery, & murder.  Here is the synoposis to help shed some light on what this film is all about:

Forty years ago, Harriet Vanger disappeared from a family gathering on the island owned and inhabited by the powerful Vanger clan. Her beloved uncle is convinced it was murder and that the killer is a member of his own tightly knit but dysfunctional family. He employs disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the tattooed and troubled but resourceful computer hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. When the pair link the disappearance of Harriet to a number of grotesque murders from almost forty years ago, they begin to unravel a dark and appalling family history. The Vangers are a secretive clan, and Blomkvist and Salander are about to find out just how far they are prepared to go to protect themselves.

This is a Swedish film, so be ready to read subtitles but well worth it. But on a positive note, if you need culture credit, now you have an awesome way to get it. There will also be free Swedish food being severed so make sure you go at least for some good foreign grub.

The film will be shown Wednesday, Feburary 23rd in the HUC Alumni Auditorium. Admission is totally free!
