FREE City Stages Tickets – The Scavenger Hunt

FREE City Stages Tickets – The Scavenger Hunt

You have heard correctly! iloveuab.com has scored 4 City Stages tickets, and I’m talking WEEKEND passes. If you want to go to City Stages absolutely free, you are about to get your chance. In order to get these tickets you must complete a Birmingham Scavenger Hunt that I and a few others have designed. I finished making it Thursday and it was tested yesterday by a gang of my Fraternity Brothers (However they got to tear up some CiCi’s Pizza buffet on my dime instead of tickets.) It took 4 of them about and hour and 15 minutes to complete the whole hunt so you should have no problem doing it in the same amount of time or less. So…the details:

The scavenger hunt is designed to take you around the Southside area and orient you with some “must know” landmarks of the city. I recommend that you do this hunt with a team of two. If one of you doesn’t know where a clue is hidden, more than likely the other one does.

The Hunt has ~7 steps the first of which will be revealed below. Each clue is much like the one before it, they are all in the following format. You will be given a sentence and a picture that you must use to get to a location. Sometimes the sentence alone is enough to clue you in on where you must go next, but if not, there is always a URL that you can visit to see the pictures associated with the next clue. That being said, I highly recommend you have a phone that can access the Internet and view photos, sooner or later you WILL have to use the pictures to get to the next clue. All clues are marked by iloveuab.com stickers like the one below:

iloveuab-sticker1Sometimes the sticker is right beside the clue and sometimes it is near the clue to help you find it. (WARNING: I have put up about 100 of these stickers all over Bham, so if you have seen one in the past it doesn’t mean there is a clue there!) All of the clues are little slips of paper taped to something like a pole, a wall, or some other surface.

This next part is very important. At each clue you will be instructed to write down a number. It’s going to be quite obvious which number you are supposed to write down. Make sure you write down the number at each and every clue. These numbers come into play at the very end of the hunt when you want to secure your chance at winning the ticket. They also are there to keep people from cheating. There is no way to find the last clue and “win” the hunt without having found all the others also, so don’t cheat. (Also, don’t be an ass and help other people cheat! It only hurts your chance of winning! Let everyone figure it out themselves! Thanks.)

Upon getting to the last clue, you will be provided with a URL that will take you to a website site that requires a USERNAME and a PASSWORD. The username will be given to you on the hunt and the password is the numbers in the order that you received them without spaces. Once you log into that area, you will be able to complete a contact form that will secure your spot in the drawing.

Everyone that finishes the hunt will be entered into a “hat” and drawn at random. In 10 days the drawing will occur. When a name is drawn, that person will be awarded a set of two tickets. So, in all, we will have two winners at the end. I was told that if the hunt is a success then I will receive more tickets to give away. If that happens, I’ll draw from the hat again and give the rest away. I’m also going to work on getting free t-shirts for everyone that completes the hunt, but don’t hold me to that just yet.

All of the people that helped design the hunt or helped test it out are disqualified from the contest. Sorry.

Well, I think you know everything that you need to know…so….here is your first clue:

Go interrogate the sad ghost who lives in the old cave for more information…

Final hints/thoughts:

  1. All clues are within a ~1 mile radius of the UAB area.
  2. UAB students and Alumni may have a slight advantage
