Film for Thought: Body Piercing and Tattoos

So UAB’s Free Food for Thought group has an interesting discussion coming up. The group will be discussing body piercing and tattoos. The question that they’re mainly centering around is “are tattoos and body piercing forms of self expression or self mutiliation.

As someone who does have ink I’m kinda curious to see what points are brought up.

Here’s the info off the event page-

Please join us on September 20 at 12pm in the HUC Great Hall as we discuss “Body Piercing and Tattoos: Self Expression or Self Mutilations? We will watch a 5 minute fim entitled “Wounded” and afterwards engage in a discussion.

Film for Thought utilizes thought provoking ethnographic films to increase the awareness and understanding of issues related to diversity. These films, which are produced by Birmingham filmakers, as a catalyst for discussion. The intended outcome of our program is a greater understanding of the ideas and opinions of others.

The event is September 20th in the HUC Great Hall. Check out the event page
