How did you end up at UAB?

I pretty much applied everywhere, like 6 places. Whatever school gave me the best scholarship, that’s where I would end up and it just happened to be UAB. And on top of that I wanted to be somewhere other than Auburn and Alabama. No thanks!

I know you are in a sorority, XXX, tell us a little bit about it and also about UAB Greek life in general.

Are you involved in any other activities on campus?

I am National Panhellenic Council’s Assistant Recruitment Chair and am my chapter’s Alumni Relations Chair. Last year I helped with the UAB Talent Search Auditions and am hoping to become more involved with UPC and its programs. I am a member of the Health Sciences Student Association (HSSA), and will hopefully be accepted into the Health Sciences Honors Program for next year! I keep involved with my sorority and the TKEs as much as possible!

Where were you when the car crashed into the Commons?!

I was taking an exam in the LRC, which is where you will pretty much always find me! Then I was walking over to the Commons to meet Dom and saw Andrew Stone and Ryan Bobby Cox running around like crazy trying to get some nice shots of all the action. So I just creepily watched them run around until Dom met me for dinner, and watched the towing guy tow the care away. I think that was like the third time I’ve been to the Commons this year, due to the grossness of the food! Blah! But I had Ryan, Andrew, and Dom to keep me entertained so it wasn’t that bad. LOL.

You are trapped on a deserted island, what three things would you want to have with you? Why?

1. Sunscreen- if I am trapped on a deserted island might as well have an amazing tan! Nobody wants skin cancer!
2. Chapstick- well duh! To keep my lips ultra not-chapped! And on top of nobody wanting skin cancer, nobody wants chapped lips!
3. Domonick Stella- to keep my entertained, to make me dinner using the resources on the island, and to throw coconuts at.

Do you think you could survive in the woods for a week?

I mean I’ve never stayed the night in the woods before, I don’t think. If I have I have probably blocked out the horrible memories! The only time I have kinda been in the woods was for Greek Retreat, and that was ridiculous! But I mean if I had to survive…I have watched enough Survivorman and that show that Bear Gryllis or whatever his name hosts. I love those shows! One time Bear Gryllis peed in the skin of a snake that he had just killed and peeled the skin off of. After he peed in it and got super thirsty like 2 hours later, he drank it. Never seen anything like that before!

How many pushups can you do – real ones, not those fake “I’m a girl so I can do them on my knees” pushups?

Well…to be honest with you I haven’t done pushups since like middle school, so I don’t even wanna know if I can now! I just remember in grade school I like never got that award that was for people who passed the national physical fitness tests for anything! Those awards were like the only awards I never could get! Ugh…middle school…however I did get an award for sportsmanship after we played softball one time. I have never been the athletic type!

Ever been in a physical fight?! Explain.

I have NEVER been in a physical fight however I have gotten in a few girls faces about stuff that I won’t discuss here. The only ever maybe kind of “physical fight” I have gotten into would be wrestling with Dom. I win every time cause I know kung fu…kinda.

So you have a boyfriend? Who is this punk?

I mean I was going to play it off like I didn’t have a boyfriend but since you caught me, his name is Domonick Stella, and he’s a brother of Tau Kappa Epsilon. I remember seeing him freshman year with his mohawk walking to the Commons and saying to myself,” I am taking that guy and his ego down!” LOL! And it worked. A year and a half later we are still together, we have gone through some super hard times, but everything happens for a reason and I am very fortunate it all worked out!

Have you ever ran away from a cop or campus police?

Ran away from the cops? No. I’d be too scared they’d have those crazy gun things that like shoot out those nets or whatever…or those beanbag guns…or those stinger things…I forget what they are called, but they stick in your skin and electrocute your whole body. I mean the only time I have ever gotten in trouble with the cops is getting pulled over. The first time I got pulled over I thought the cop was passing me to catch someone else! And I got a ticket! Even though it was the first time I had been pulled over! I should have realized that it was Labor Day weekend and there were a ton of cops out.

How does it feel being immersed with so many of “your people” at UAB?

In grade school I never had any Asian friends, so here it definitely feels weird. I think like the first semester I was here someone called me a “twinkie.” It’s an Asian who acts white, yellow on the outside…white on the inside. And even now, every time I go anywhere with people I always point out the Asians, and say their my family members. It’s quite fun because most of the time people believe me. Oh and just fyi, I am not good at science or math so I guess I’m not the typical Asian. LOL.
