1. Are you involved in any student organizations on campus?

I’m a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, UAB Ambassadors, USGA Executive Cabinet, and Colleges Against Cancer

2. As we all know, you’re Ms.UAB! Can you kind of tell us some about how it was to win, and the process it took to make the cut?

It still doesn’t seem real. All I remember from that day was standing on the field trying to smile while my leg kept uncontrollably shaking. Then I must have slapped my face when they called my name, because there is a hideous picture of me floating around somewhere. The process for Mr. and Ms. UAB consists of filling out an application, a first round interview, a second round interview, and this year the student vote. I wasn’t sure about the student vote at first, because I normally shy away from popularity contests. But looking back, I am glad that the students had a chance to participate. I think it makes us more visible and responsible to the student body. I am really looking forward to this year, and working with the students and Alumni Society…and oh yea, and that Mr. UAB too!

3. Where are you from originally, and why did you choose UAB?

I was born and raised in Mobile, AL. – the home of Mardi Gras and Jimmy Buffett! I chose UAB for the Early Medical School Acceptance Program. It also was the perfect distance from home. Close enough to make it home for the weekend, but not so close that Mom and Dad can make “surprise” visits!

5. Let’s say you can have any pet in the world, what would that pet be?

A parrot. It will always tell me what I want to hear!

6. It’s Friday Night, who are you with and what are you doing?

I am probably with two of my best friends Reauchean and Diane. We will attempt to be domestic and cook for the guys. However, it will probably not turn out, and we will end up at Iguana Grill. YUM!

7. If it was up to you to choose another fast food restaurant on campus, what would you choose and why?

Burger King so that I can have it my way!

8. Your in the Early Acceptance program for Medical School right? How did that happen?

As a Senior in high school I applied to UAB’s medical school. I did everything that a senior in college applying to UAB Med School would typically have to do. I wrote a personal statement, got letters of recommendation, and then 20 students were selected to come to UAB for the interviews. It was three 30min one on one interviews. Later that evening I got the call that determined my future. Hesitant at first, I am so glad that this nationally recognized program brought me to UAB. I have so many opportunities here at UAB for leadership and growth. I am looking forward to spending 4 more years here after graduation and become a member of the UAB Medical School Class of 2015.

9. A Classic: If you were stuck on a deserted island for a month and you could only bring three things, what would those things be and why?

1. A journal. I have always wanted an interesting life story so that I can write a book. I think being stuck on a deserted island would qualify.

2. My favorite pillow. I have to get my 7 hours of sleep.

3. A rosary so that I can pray to get off the island quick.
