What? You thought I forgot again? I may be two days late on getting this done, but the post more than makes up for that fact. August’s Cute UAB Girl of The Month is Anna Lloyd. You may have heard her name before because she is Ms.UAB. How I pulled this one off I have no idea…anyway, here we go!

1. Are you involved in any student organizations?

USGA and Homecoming Committee.

2. Hey, so like you’re THE Ms. UAB right? Tell us about that.

Wow. It was the biggest reward I’ve ever received, without question. As soon as they told us that “a sense of humor” was a block on the judging sheet, I was like “shoot, I’m out!” I remember tearing up at work when I found out I made it to the second round of interviews. And then, I remember feeling so incredibly proud of my university when I was standing on the football field looking up at all the Blazer fans. My name came over the speakers, and I became Ms. UAB. Crazy. I just can’t describe how meaningful it is to have the opportunity to represent our university and my friends in this way. GB

3. How did you end up at UAB?

Can you say scholarship money?! Haha. But really, the offer brought me in, but the Blazer spirit I felt upon arriving sealed the deal for me. The day I stepped onto campus was the day my “inner dragon” was born (shoutout to my boy, Josh Wilson!).

4. It’s now the third week of school, how many times have you been late for class due to current parking issues?

Zero! I live on campus – woopwoop. But for those commuters who are pretty upset right now, I hear your cry. Help is on the way! We’ve got two more levels coming in on a parking deck right now, and I’m sure people will slack off on going to class. . .eventually.

5. I’m trying to organize a Flash Zombie mob as well as a Flash Rave around finals? You game to help make it happen?

Pssh, I’m down with that. I gotta admit, the whole zombie thing really cracks me up. Zombie fanatics would say I’ll be the first to die, but until it happens I’m gonna enjoy making fun of the paranoia. But seriously, count me in!

6. Do you have any secret hobbies that you are embarrassed to talk about? Like….you have a level 80 Druid in World of Warcraft, or maybe you still have an N’sync shrine set up in your room? Let’s hear something good!

Well, I thought about this answer for a while and decided that I don’t have any embarrassing hobbies. However, my roommate would probably say I have a weird obsession with household cleaners. No, it’s not what you’re thinking! haha. I just love the smell of a clean, febreezed room. . .that’s all. I tend to go a little overboard with air fresheners, febreeze, and candles when I have them. Hope my RA doesn’t read this.

7. If the moon became an independent nation what do you think would be a good name for said moon country?

lol Hmm, what a serious question! I think we should just call it Moon. Countries have boundaries. The moon is a sphere. Let’s not be silly. It’s the moon, people.

8. What was your High school senior superlative? Senior quote?

I didn’t make it into the hallowed “who’s who” of my senior class. I did, however, get my picture on the band page. . .I think. . .I hope.

Getting pumped for UAB football the next day, duh.

10. Most embarrassing moment:

To make a long and painful story short, I accidentally admitted my undying love for a high school teacher of mine. ..to his face. Both of our birthdays are in November, so I simply suggested that the month be called the “[his first name] and Anna [his LAST name]” month. Did you catch that? Yeeeaaaaaaah. He’s getting married this fall . ..in November.

11. Are you an active reader of iloveuab.com?

Most definitely. But if I weren’t I probably wouldn’t admit it in this answer. I probably wouldn’t call myself a real UAB student either.

12. If you were going to be stranded on a deserted island for a month, what three items would you bring? Why?

A knife, Bible, and hair conditioner. Gotta be practical, spiritual, and beautiful!

It's really becoming odd the amount of tree pictures that Cute UAB Girl's of the Month have on Facebook. I can't figure it out.

13. Lastly, can you please clear up the confusion between Ms.UAB and Miss UAB?

I’m so glad you asked! Miss UAB is a pageant held on campus in which the wonderful lady chosen represents our school at the Miss Alabama pageant. Ashley Davis is our current Miss UAB, and she is a sweetheart! Ms. UAB (that’s me) is a student representative on the National Alumni Society board along with Mr. UAB (that’s Pratik Talati). Mr. and Ms. UAB are chosen through rounds of interviews and now a student vote. The winners are revealed at the homecoming game and serve a full year. Hope that clears things up .
