Aura: UAB’s Literary Art Magazine
This is a guest post by Monique Jones.
Are you a talented writer or artist but don’t have an outlet to show your creativity to the Birmingham community and beyond? Well, believe it or not, there’s a literary arts magazine right here at UAB that could help you do just that.
Aura Literary Arts Review, UAB’s award-winning student-run literary magazine, is reaching out the student body once again. Ashley Jones has been recently elected as the new editor-in-chief of Aura, and she’s realized that one of the problems the literary magazine has is that not many students know about it. Some students don’t even know the magazine exists at all. So this year, Jones is working on Aura having a bigger presence at UAB and her first step is to increase the amount of student-submitted work.
Aura is accepting poetry (including song lyrics), fiction, non fiction, and visual art (photos, paintings, drawings, etc.). Jones plans on having some outreach events through the year, including a contest with a cash prize.
If you think you have something suitable for Aura, email Jones at uabaura [at] yahoo [dot] com. For more information on submission guidelines, go to UAB Aura.
