2010 USGA Voting Next Week

Oh yes, it’s that time of year again! It’s time for the Undergraduate Student Government Association to hold elections and elect the next round of student leaders into office. What that means is…there will be polling locations at various locations (Residence Halls, The Commons, BEC, etc.) around campus on Feb. 23 and 24 where you can cast your vote for the nominees. You can also vote online, so if you don’t pass a poll location during your normal UAB routine, you can vote whenever it’s convenient.

T be honest I’m a little sad to see that it’s already time for elections. Not because there aren’t some awesome people running, but rather because we’re losing such an awesome USGA executive cabinet – especially the president Hernandez Stroud. As you probably know, ol’ HS is pretty much a badass and I really hate to see him graduate and end his term  We’ll miss you man.

As you may remember, I did a pretty cool Q&A section with the two candidates (Hernandez Stroud and Amanda Azoroh) last year. Well, my arch nemesis, the Kaleidoscope beat me to it this year…but I don’t care – now atleast I can ask more fun questions. I’ve already gotten Brad Watts and Jacob Jones to commit to an interview so expect that in the next day or so, I’ll probably send them the questions tonight.

Here’s the official ballot:

As you can see, there are a number of senate seats that don’t even have anyone running for them (which is dumb, people should be all over these positions). It’ll be interesting to see who wins in the School of Business where there is actually some good competition, there’s competition in the School of Engineering too. As far as the rest of the senate seats, everyone is a shoe in, all you gotta do is vote for yourself and you win. Kind of a hollow victory eh?
