Planking 101
I know this might be old news to most of you, but I wanted to take some time to address the art of “planking” because I would like to see the students at UAB to really embrace this epic fad before it becomes lame like so many fads before it.
What is planking?
Planking is the art of positioning your body in the shape of a wooden board (aka plank) in extreme, weird, and funny locations.
How does one plank?
First, lay on your back with your hands and arms positioned tightly to your sides and your legs together. Then proceed to roll your body 180° to either the left or right so that your face is now facing the ground. Congratulations, you now know how to plank!
What all do I need to plank?
All you need is a torso, an interesting location, a friend with a camera, and a computer to share your epic photos with the world!
I heard it’s dangerous…
It can be dangerous if you’re not smart about where you decide to plank. Just use your brain. Avoid roads, heights, and hookers and you should be fine.
Planking sounds pointless, why even do it?
Well, if you’re gonna have THAT attitude about planking, then don’t do it! Us cool kids will just have all of the fun without you…
Now I have a request for all you Blazers! Go out this semester and plank like you’ve never planked before! And when you are done, email me (hendrix1@uab.edu) your pictures and maybe tell me a little bit about your adventures. If I get enough pictures, I’ll post them to the website so you everyone and their mama can see what epic places you found to plank.
