Does Harry Potter Tickle Your Fancy?

This is a guest post by Monique Jones who is a junior majoring in journalism and former editor-in-chief of the Kaleidoscope. She’s looking for a change of scenery and asked if she could do a quick post about Harry Potter. I’m not a fan of Harry Potter, but I’m actually probably pretty lame for not keeping up. Anyways, she has a personal blog where she does reviews of movies, they’re pretty damn good. If things go well, she’ll be writing with iloveuab.com in the future. I’ll shut up now. -Andrew

I saw Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last week, and I loved every minute of it! Yes, I’ve read the book version and yes, I’m aware many things that happened in the book didn’t make it into the movie, but I can’t help it if the movie’s version of the story is more clean-cut and better flowing than the book. The first two movies-Sorcerer’s Stone and Chamber of Secrets-are basically boring books-on-tape. Once the film series got to Prisoner of Azkaban, however, the tone of the movies have become darker, and, well, more movie-like, to be honest. And if I’m going to pay $7.50 to sit in a darkened theater, you’d better believe that I want to watch a movie, not a book-on-tape. So, if you’re looking to watch an entertaining, fun, and surprisingly deep movie, Half-Blood Prince is the one for you. Read more about my controversial opinions on the Harry Potter series (and why Draco rocks) at MoniqueBlog. Some Spoilers, beware!

Wow, you’ve got to appreciate the great AP style! We aint used 2 dat round heer at iloveuab.com. -Andrew

Great story, and I’m a huge Harry Potter fan.
Many, many, many people have said that they were disappointed in the Sixth film due to it’s omission of a number of important details.
Well, let’s set the record straight. That’s what the seventh film will fix. See, the producers not only split Deathly Hallows into two films for the sheer volume of info it encompasses, but also to take into account for the “plot holes” of the sixth film. Never fear, people. You’ll get your “Full Potter.” Just gotta wait about another year.
