Birmingham Rocks This February!

This is a guest post by Adam Hendrix, a Freshman at UAB.

Do you have some extra cash in you pocket and need more music in your life? Well Birmingham has you covered this February with tons of big bands from all genres coming into town. Here is a breakdown by genre of some of the biggest names you could be seeing live and onstage in the upcoming month:

Country: Brad Paisley will be coming to the BJCC Arena on February 5th for his “American Saturday Night” tour with special guest and fellow country star, Miranda Lambert. Tickets range from about $38 to $53 depending on how close you want to get. Buy tickets to see Brad Paisley.

Synthpop/Electronic: “You would not believe your eyes, if ten million fireflies…”…yeah it’s stuck in my head too… Anyways, Owl City is coming to Workplay February 8. Unfortunately, according to workplay.com, tickets are sold out but maybe (if you get lucky) you might be able to find someone selling their tickets so don’t completely give up all hope! (If you have 2 tickets to this show you want to sell, use the contact form, I wanna buy them -Stone)

Pop / Rock / Blues: Guys! Need to do something nice for your woman? Well take her to go see John Mayer as an early Valentine’s gift! But wait! What if I don’t have a woman? No problem! Pick up some John Mayer tickets and meet single ladies at the concert! It’s that simple!! John Mayer will be performing February 9th at the BJCC Arena. Tickets range from $35, $45, and $65. Buy Tickets to see John Mayer.

Christian Rock: The huge Christian rock group Casting Crowns will be performing February 12th at the BJCC Arena for their “Until the Whole World Hears” Tour. Fellow Christian artists Kutless will also accompany Casting Crowns for this rocking religious experience. Tickets are going from $15 to about $40. Buy Tickets to see Casting Crowns.

Hip-Hop: I gotta feeling…that The Black Eyed Peas is gonna be a good show…yeah stupid joke, I know. But all dorky puns aside, The Black Eyed Peas will be performing February 13th in the BJCC Area as part of their “The E.N.D World Tour.” This concert event looks like one you don’t want to miss. Tickets are starting out at about $38 for nosebleed but if you are true Black Eyed Peas fan and have A LOT of extra cash lying around, you can go full out with one of the four V.I.P. packages ranging from $175-$365. Buy Tickets to see BEP.

Alternative Rock / Emo: The Used will be performing February 26 at Five Points Music Hall with Atreyu and two other special guests. All tickets are $25.

Blues / Classic Rock: Eric Clapton will be taking the stage February 28th alongside The Who’s lead singer Roger Daltrey in the BJCC Arena. Don’t be fooled by their ages, these men can still rock and roll like no others.

Get your tickets as soon as possible because they are going fast!!!

Girls (that’s the band’s name) will be at the Bottletree on Feb 4th at 9pm. Tickets are $10 adv / $12 day of show.

Their debut album, Album, (sensing a trend?) was essentially on every major “Best of 2009″ list. #15 Rolling Stone, #5 SPIN, and #10 according to Pitchfork (rated 9.1).

Show some love for Birmingham’s best local venue.
